anxiety coping skills group
Columbia, MO
Do you ever ask yourself, “What in the world is wrong with me?” or some variation of, “What is wrong with my brain? Why won't it just turn off?!” Or, even better, “Is this really the rest of my life? Am I always going to deal with anxiety?”?
Anxiety is highly common. We’d go so far to say that it’s a universal human condition, meaning that there is no “cure” and that some level of anxiety is innate for all humans.
What we can do is help you to alleviate some of the anxiety so that it's not so bothersome for you. Just because it’s universal doesn't mean it should consume your life.
Coping and managing anxiety can be done with simple, effective, and research-backed methods. This is what we’re after–bringing you some effective, easy-to-implement support for the anxiety in your life. And doing it in such a way that you can take it with you and practice it on your own.
The Anxiety Coping Skills Group is a psychoeducational group. This just means that we aim to teach you about various ways to cope and alleviate anxiety within your life, but that we’re not doing therapy.
Each week will consist of:
some (brief) education about anxiety;
an introduction to a specific coping mechanism;
in-person practice for that coping mechanism;
homework (so that you can actually put the things you learn into practice).
The topics of the psychoeducation group include:
an overview of anxiety;
relaxation techniques;
time management;
self-esteem;
challenging beliefs.
When and where is it all taking place?
This closed group consists of a maximum of 6 participants. It runs on three consecutive Sundays from April 21 to May 5 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Low cost spots are available. Please contact us today to find out more!
