The Gottman Seven Principles Program

Okay, but what exactly is the 7 Principles for Making Marriage Work workshop?

Great question! Short version–it’s a workshop designed to strengthen your relationship. Easy as that. What you learn, however, is detailed below!

In this workshop, you and your partner will learn to:

  • deepen your knowledge of one another;

  • build friendship and trust;

  • recognize and respond to bids for connection;

  • be open to influence;

  • understand and work with both solvable and difficult problems;

  • get through gridlocked conflict;

  • create a special “story of us” and

  • maintain your relationship gains.

By joining our workshop, you get exclusive access to:

  • Expert Guidance: Learn from the best with proven techniques backed by decades of research.

  • A Bonding Experience: Gain practical tools to improve communication, intimacy, and understanding.

  • A Convenient Set-up: It’s all online, so you can join from the comfort of your own home, pajamas optional!

  • Quality Time: Each 90-minute session is packed with actionable strategies that you can start using right away. You’ll walk away with tools that save you time and heartache down the road.

  • Affordable Expertise: At just $50 a week, you’re getting access to top-notch guidance from a Certified Gottman Therapist. That’s less than a dinner out but with benefits that will last far longer.

  • A Worthwhile Treat: Investing in your relationship now can prevent bigger, more expensive problems later. It’s a small price to pay for a happier, healthier partnership.

  • A Unique Opportunity: This is the only workshop of its kind available right now in our area. [<-This is not an exaggeration. If I’m mistaken, please correct me, but I know of nothing happening like this in our area.]

  • Certified Expertise: Led by a Certified Gottman Therapist–fewer than 600 in the nation can say that!

  • A Transformative Moment: In just 8 weeks, you can learn the tools to make an actual lasting difference in your relationship.

Our Gottman Certified Workshop Leaders

Molly Lyons-Sword

Director of Clinical Operations & Certified Gottman Therapist

Molly is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in the state of Missouri. She earned her Masters of Science in Clinical Counseling at Central Methodist University (CMU) and was a student intern at The Counseling Hub and Boone County Mental Health Coalition, where she assessed and provided mental health interventions and resources for individuals and groups in Boone County schools.

Molly is trained and certified in the highly effective Gottman Method Couples Therapy (Gottman Certified Therapist) and has also been formally trained as in the Prepare-Enrich Premarital Couples Counseling approach. She enjoys working with diverse populations and seeks to always be open to new learning experiences.

“I enjoy working with couples because I did not see many healthy relationships growing up. I have learned so much about how to communicate and what real long-term relationships look like. I find that when couples come to a deep understanding and empathy for each other, there’s a connection that nothing else can compare. Although we all have our own relationship issues, we really are all the same... wanting to be loved, heard, seen, and know we are not alone in this world.”

Nanci Nikodym

Clinical Therapist

Nanci has earned her Master’s of Education in Counseling at Stephens College, here in Columbia, Missouri, and has earned a Bachelors in Psychology. Counseling is something Nanci has always wanted to do.

Nanci is interested in working with couples, adolescents and adults with anxiety, depression, self-esteem/self-confidence, self-image and body image issues, eating disorders, crisis and trauma, and life transitions. She is Gottman Level 2 trained.

“Being a couples therapist can be challenging but it is also deeply rewarding. I enjoy watching couples build stronger connections and work through conflict using healthy communication. It’s beautiful to see a couple share with each other in an honest, safe, and healthy way.”
