What happens if I miss my session?
Individual and Couples Counseling | Columbia, MO
A missed session is a loss to everyone. Not only do we want to make sure that you’re comfortable enough to come back, but we also want to make sure you’re getting the most you can out of your sessions. When we don’t have consistency with sessions, it can be much harder to get that comfort we strive for and the effectiveness we want.
With those things in mind, the cancellation/rescheduling/missed session policy is as follows.
With at least 24 hours notice, sessions can be cancelled or rescheduled free of charge (you’ll get an automated reminder 48 hours out from your session, so you should have plenty of time to regroup and reschedule, if needed).
Cancelled, rescheduled, or missed sessions that were not done so within 24-hours notice are considered lost time and cannot be made up, thus the session fee is still charged.
Clients who consistently miss or reschedule appointments without notification may have counseling services terminated or restricted, and will be provided with a referral to another counselor or practice. “Consistently miss” is missing/canceling/rescheduling four sessions within a six-month period.
As with any business (even a counseling practice!), it costs to stay in business. If there is a cancellation at the last minute or without 24 hours notice, it's more often than not that the time slot remains vacant (and yet costs remain the same).
